The final piece of the puzzle

The masters:

What makes the masters special? This is not just any golf tournament nor on the same level as any major , in a world where we are looking for the most convenient way to do things or flashy , fan friendly games the masters stands tall steeped In Tradition and forever beloved by the hardcore fans of the game. The tournament that puts icons against emerging stars , that get those who have tasted victory along the way or been consistent enough to be considered the among the best in the game . The green of Augusta, the exclusivity of the green jacket and the 72 holes of golf that separates the best in the world from the rest , it doesn’t get better than that.   It’s not the money and glamour of Liv golf trying to make golf a spectacle nor the technological evolution and immersive fan experience that TGL is trying to bring but the purest of this beautiful game that regardless of your opinion of where the game should be heading, the masters will forever be the the pinnacle of golf.

The final piece of the puzzle:

The game of golf has undergone large scale changes and scrutiny over the last few years and whether these changes are for the better is a story for another day but through this time period one man has carried the torch for tradition and been the face and voice for the game even to his own detriment. A man who saw the very top from so young and nearly completed the game winning three majors In a very short space of time just to be denied that illusive fourth for over a decade.

The masters this year , as any year , will always change one man dreams into reality and all the top golfers want to win come the end of 72 rounds of golf at Augusta. So many success stories have come and gone between the most dominant golfer triumphantly winning at the highest level to the underdog who shines through the shade to claim a momentous victory the masters will always produces a new hero regardless of the victor but this one was different. What a spectacle it would of been to see Bryson Dechambeau rise to the top at Augusta or watching Justin Rose finally blossom through all the high and lows of his career. These would’ve been wins we all would’ve wanted and loved to have seen but this year at the masters golf didn’t get the win it wanted , it got the winner it needed. Rory Mcllroy had not won a major since 2014 after achieving three of the four majors in golf leaving him one shy one the grand slam. A Masters win would put him in the most exclusive club golf has to offer with there being only 5 ever grand slam winners to grace the sport. Rory had faced many setbacks and looked to have lost his touch in the decade long span without a major title but this 2025 Masters championship many felt there was something in the air, the old guard knew something special awaits and through all the trials and tribulations Mcllroy had faced, destiny would ensue as he took firm control of the masters from day 2 and never looked back. There are few moments when you get to watch true greatness , watching the purest of hearts, clearest of minds, and the guidance of whatever higher power you want to consider guiding one person to something that seems written in the stars. Watching Mcllroy win the masters is one of those moments and there was no one in the game of golf today that deserved that moment more than Rory Mcllroy , deservingly writing his name in the history books of Augusta as well as cementing his legacy as an all time great player of the game. The script writers could have done any better and will struggle to find a moment as special as watching the final putt on the final playoff hole, and the elation of a man achieving his dream after so many attempts.
